A little bit about me.

The youngest of four children, I grew up in a rural farming community in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa.

After completing a three-year National Diploma in Graphic Design at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in Port Elizabeth in 2014, I decided to expand my technical abilities and knowledge of the fast-evolving digital environment that surrounds us. A year later, in 2015, I obtained a qualification in Web Publishing and Interactive Media from Friends of Design in Cape Town.

While studying at Friends of Design, I developed an intense interest in Human Computer Interaction (HCI). I realised that design was more than just creating a visually appealing product. In 2017, in pursuit of this interest, I came to Germany to study Information Design at the Hochschule der Medien (HdM) in Stuttgart.

I have just completed my Bachelor’s Thesis titled, Using Conversational Interfaces to Improve the Online Usability and Accessibility for Seniors Investigated by the Example of Online Banking. This study again verified for me how important a thorough understanding of the user is for creating functional designs. I hope to start my career in a position where I may be able to use my various skills to contribute to technological solutions that will simplify and improve people’s everyday lives.
